The section linking Railway Station, General Bus Stand & BRT Azadi Interchange portrays a deplorable picture of traffic congestion and inefficient public transport. The research presents the feasibility study of smart feeder bus service with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion and providing access to BRT while linking the 3 major nodes.

The bus service is termed as β€œsmart” because, along with providing a quick and comfortable travel, it will be well equipped with Intelligent Transport System. Moreover, the buses will operate on a technology-based operational plan, where route mapping and bus location will be viewed from LCD screens at every bus stop. The research, thus, identifies parameters that contribute towards the feasibility study.

Different surveys have been conducted in the light of set objectives. Cost-benefit & other related analysis have been made. Also, the environmental performance of the bus is analyzed to help achieve the reduction in total vehicular emission and for ensuring an environment-friendly mode.

The study, thus, concludes that introducing smart bus service which acts as a feeder to BRT is a viable proposition in terms of economic, environmental and social aspects.
